Styrian Wexl Trails in Eastern Styria

Whether ambitious athletes, families or recreational riders - the Styrian Wexl Trails offer the right experience for everyone. The various difficulty levels of the trails are also ideal for school and sports weeks.
The Styrian Wexl Trails extend the existing network of Wexl Trails in Lower Austria to an impressive 130 kilometers. This new tourist highlight in Eastern Styria offers a diverse mountain bike experience on a total of 50 kilometers of trails, iincluding three kilometers of newly built trail. The connection with the Lower Austrian Wexl Trails makes the region the largest mountain bike destination in Eastern Austria.
The trail network in Eastern Styria
The Styrian Wexl Trails are a joint project of the Wechselland municipalities of Dechantskirchen, Friedberg, Lafnitz, Pinggau, Rohrbach an der Lafnitz, Schäffern and St. Lorenzen am Wechsel. The trails connect the most beautiful cycle paths in Thermenland, Eastern Styria and the Joglland cycle route “Der große Jogl” with the Wexl Trails in Lower Austria. Varied panoramic and shared trails that can be ridden both uphill and downhill await you!
Numerous huts along the routes invite you to rest and relax, and designated parking spaces are available for those arriving by car. A ticket is required to use the Wexl Trails, which is valid for both the Styrian and Lower Austrian routes. These tickets are available at the participating communities, partner businesses such as restaurants and online at www.wexltrails.at. The trails are open from May 15 to November 1, offering a long season for all mountain bike enthusiasts.

Day trail ticket: The use of the trails is subject to a fee. Trail tickets can be purchased at the municipal offices of the participating municipalities, in inns and huts as well as digitally.

Arrival by public transport
Getting there:
From Vienna with only one change in Wiener Neustadt.
Trains run approximately every two hours between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Bicycle transport:
- Surcharge: approx. 10% of the ticket price (min. €2.10).
Please note:
There are only 5 bicycle spaces on the Railjet → reserve early!
There are usually enough spaces on the Cityjet.
How to proceed:
- Start at Hilmtor: approx. 7 km from the train station
- Alternatively, take the convenient SAM taxi to Hochwechsel:
- 1 person: approx. €48
- 4 people: approx. €75
- Important: Reserve at least 1 day in advance!
