The hike towards Burgstallkogel is ‘living history’, a direct encounter with monuments of a past that cannot be accessed through written sources.
The hike begins at the Hallstattzeitliches Museum in Großklein, a fascinating starting point that highlights the historical significance of the region. From there, the trail passes the inviting Steirerkeller inn before continuing along the Kirchsteig trail on well-maintained municipal and forest paths towards Karberg. The trail continues over the Lassenberg, where you can enjoy the peace and beauty of the dense forest before descending gently to Narrath. Passing the Zitz (Siegl) winery, the trail then crosses the Saggaubach stream, which adds a refreshing touch to the route. Finally, you follow the quiet country road, which offers a relaxed and safe return to the starting point at the museum. This route combines nature, culture and culinary experiences in a varied hike.
