On the Berghausen Circular Hiking Trail, you can experience the picturesque beauty of the South Styria region; this trail leads you directly to the famous South Styrian Wine Route.

The route starts at the former town hall in Berghausen and heads toward Zieregg. The trail passes by several farms and leads directly to the South Styrian Wine Route. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery and its many places to stop for a break, where you can treat yourself to a glass of wine and South Styrian cuisine. The return route takes you over the Wielitschberg, passing the Bärenhof and Grabenschneiderkapelle scenic and activity spots. A perfect tour for wine and nature lovers, as well as for families with children!

Coming from Graz on the A9, take the Spielfeld exit. Continue on the B67 toward Spielfeld and turn right onto the Südsteirische Weinstraße until you reach the old Berghausen community center.

The route runs largely along surfaced paths and roads.

From the starting point (old municipal offices in Berghausen), head south (right) via the Schuster high alpine trail to Zieregg. A detour to the viewing platform on the Platschberg/Plac mountain in Slovenia is always recommended (signposted across the Spielfelder vineyards as Natur-Kultur-Archälogieweg - Nature and Culture Archaeology Trail). From Zieregg, hike along the South Styrian Wine Road to the Bärenhof Berghausen bear sanctuary (it is possible to join the Ratsch-Ottenberg Wine Trail here). Head north from the Bärenhof to the Grabschneider/Wielitschkapelle chapel and back to your starting point.

Visit the Bear Sanctuary in Berghausen, where brown bears from Europe and Asia are given a loving home and many other animals live as well. The Bear Hut is a great place to take a break. A short path from there also leads to the Ratscher Landhaus marble run—a fun outing for families with children!

Many starting points for our hikes in southern Styria can also be reached by public transport.

For a relaxed and sustainable journey, we recommend travelling by bus and train wherever possible. Depending on the region, additional local transport options are available.
