Ratscher Jakobiwanderung

In honor of Saint James, the patron saint of vinters, the Ratсher vinters began the Jacob hike many years ago. The Jacob day in Ratsch an der Weinstraße has been celebrated for 20 years by around a thousand hikers with typical South Styrian delicacies, excellent wines, and music.

All details about the Jacob hike 2027, including the new route and participating businesses, will be published in due time on the Instagram account of the Jacob hike as well as on the website of the Ratscher Landhaus. Until then, the pictures and impressions from previous years give a taste of the special hiking experience.

Where is the start?

The start is always at the Gasthaus Schlauer at 11.00 a.m.

Do I have to walk the entire route?

No. You can join at any station and wander flexibly.

Is there an entry fee?

No. There is no participation fee – you only pay for your consumptions at the individual businesses.

Is everything to be walked?

Yes. The entire distance is covered on foot. There are no transfer options.

If you can't go any further, you can call a taxi at any time – the taxi companies are informed.

Where can I park?

There are only a few parking options at the individual stations. It's best to have someone drop you off at the start!

There are some parking spaces at the kindergarten in Ratsch! Coming from Gamlitz, you may park on the right side of the road (Ratscher Graben).

Are all the paths along the road?

No. The route leads over forest and meadow paths as well as some asphalt roads.

Where can I find the route?

The route is available on the website as well as on the Instagram account of the Jacob hike.

Are there toilets at every station?

No. Please check in advance which stations have toilets. They are marked on the flyer.

What drinks are available?

Wines, juices, and mineral water – something different at each stand!

Is card payment possible at the stands?

No, we are partially in the middle of nature, so the Internet does not work. Change can be purchased at the starting point.
