Ratscher Jakobiwanderung

In honor of Saint Jacob, the patron saint of winemakers, the Ratsch winemakers began the Jakobiwanderung many years ago. The feast of Saint Jacob has been celebrated in Ratsch on the Wine Road for 20 years by around a thousand hikers with typical South Styrian delicacies, excellent wines, and music.

Where is the start?

The start is always at Gasthaus Schlauer at 11.00 a.m.

Do I have to walk the whole route?

No. You can join at any station and walk flexibly.

Is there a participation fee?

No. There is no participation fee – you only pay for your consumptions at the individual businesses.

Is everything walkable?

Yes. The entire distance is covered on foot. There are no transfer options.

If you can’t continue, you can call a taxi at any time – the taxi companies are informed.

Where is the conclusion?

The conclusion takes place at the Zweytick Ewald winery in Ratsch.

Where can I park?

There are only a few parking options at the individual stations. It’s best to be driven to the start!

There are some parking spaces at the kindergarten in Ratsch! Coming along the road from Gamlitz, you may park on the right side (Ratscher Graben).

Are the paths all along the road?

No. The route leads over forest and meadow paths as well as some asphalt roads.

Where can I find the route?

The route is visible on the website as well as on the Instagram account of the Jakobiwanderung.

Are there toilets at every station?

No. Please check in advance which stations have toilets. They are marked on the flyer.

When will the Klapotetz be set up?

The Klapotetz will be set up at 5:30 p.m.

When does the event end?

The party ends at 12.00 a.m.!

What food is available?

At each stand (there are 8), there are snacks available! At lunchtime, there will also be hot food at stand No. 4. Outdoor grilling will take place on the Ofyr. Pork chops, baked potatoes (vegan and vegetarian), wild burgers, and sausages.

At the conclusion 2026 at the Zweytick Ewald winery: grilled chicken, pasta (vegetarian and vegan), sausages, and liver cheese sandwiches. There will be spreadable bread and snacks along the route. Details can be found in the flyer.

What drinks are available?

Wine, juices, and mineral water differ at each stand!

Where can I buy the Jakobihut and the anniversary buttons?

At the start, you can buy the Jakobihut for 15 euros at the stand. The buttons are available at each station!

Can I pay by card at the stands?

No, we are partly in the middle of nature, where no internet works. Cash is chic! Keep that in mind! At the starting point, you can get change. Leather bag with 40 euros in change for 50 euros!
