The Römerhöhle is an accessible mining gallery that houses a show exhibition on the 2000-year history of this oldest, still active mine in Austria. The focus is on the formation of the coral reef, the mine in Roman times and in the Middle Ages, the concentration camp of World War 2 and a peace tunnel. The guard house is also located in the immediate vicinity.

The quarry is located in Southern Styria near Wagna, between Aflenz on the Sulm and Unterlupitscheni. The Aflenzer stone (or Aflenzer block), a good building stone made of sandstone, is being quarried. Parts of St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna were built with Aflenzer stone.

The formation of the coral reef, the mine during Roman times and the Middle Ages, the concentration camp of World War II, and a peace tunnel are highlights of the exhibition.
Additionally, concerts and theater performances also take place in the tunnel.

Year-round 8° Celsius - warm clothing and sturdy footwear are recommended.
