Alpengasthof Strutz
Wies
Peter Fürbass senior laid the foundation for today's alpine inn in 1958. Over the years, the small cider tavern transformed into a place for dining, celebrations, overnight stays, and excursions in the region.
Kurt and Karin Fürbass continue to run the business today. Supported by family and team, they maintain what has characterized the Strutz for decades: honest cuisine, personal hospitality, and a house where much is still done in-house.
Since 1958, cooking, serving, and hospitality have been at the heart of Strutz. Many guests have been coming for years for the same reasons: a crispy fried chicken, a freshly grilled trout, or a good schnitzel after a hike.
We cook warm, down-to-earth, and regional dishes. Schilcher, cider, and many ingredients come from the surrounding area — and when something is in season, it finds its way onto the daily menu.
AUTHENTIC
What is served at the Alpengasthof Strutz is cooked by us. What we tell is true. The Strutz mill with its original mill gear from 1854 is not a marketing story, but stands on our grounds — rebuilt by miller Peter over seven years and awarded "9 Places 9 Treasures" of Styria in 2020.
REGIONAL
Our trout come from our own 22-kilometer mountain brook in the Sulmtal, family-owned since 1962. Schilcher and cider come from Schilcherland winemakers, with whom we have worked for decades. We get our bacon and cheese from the region, and bread from the bakery around the corner. We know our suppliers by name — and you can taste it on the plate.
VERSATILE
Today, we are cooking lunch for four guests; tomorrow, we are setting up a wedding table for up to 150. We take it step by step, without rushing — while maintaining the character of a family business.
