About the offer

Create your own unique work of art from soapstone, the softest stone in the world. Learn different carving techniques under the professional guidance of the master sculptor Kerstin. Previous knowledge is not required, the focus lies on working together in a group with soapstone.


The soapstone experience in the Kunstwerk.CC workshop offers you insights into the art and craft of soapstone sculpting – we learn about the material, different tools and carving methods as well as the creative process of carving your own figurine. Making your own hand cream out of talcum powder is also part of the experience. We will dedicate ourselves to designing and creating a figurine weighing about 1-1.5 kg, which is carved out of a soapstone measuring approximately 10 x 15 cm. Our focus lies on the joy of artistic interaction with a natural material like soapstone and the confidence in one’s own creative power. Unique artworks from the softest stone in the world are created in the relaxed atmosphere of our workshop. Kerstin will introduce you to different techniques and provide creative support for your own sculpture. Previous knowledge is not required, the focus lies on working together in a group with soapstone. Please be aware that the entire experience will last 2-3 hours.

The experience can be booked from 5 to a maximum of 10 participants

- Creation of a soapstone sculpture weighing 1-1.5 kg from a stone (talc, soapstone) of your choice - Loaned tools and carving materials included- Professional guidance from master sculptor Kerstin. Learn interesting facts about talc (mining, occurrences, processing, usage and history)- Create your own hand cream from the residual talcum powder - Enjoy the pleasant atmosphere with tea, coffee, water and regional juices

No previous knowledge is required.

Upon request and prior consultation, you are welcome to bring your pet to the experience. We will provide you with a loaned apron for this Slow Trip. However, the carving process creates some dust, so we recommend you bring a change of clothes.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the Slow Trips experience at the agreed meeting point, the other participants will thank you for it

If requested, we can collect you from Kaindorf bei Hartberg (accessible via public transport) against a surcharge. If you wish, you can purchase an additional rough stone of up to 25 kg on site as well as premade figurines.

For a creative break, we can organise snacks from regional producers in the Nature Park Pöllau Valley against a surcharge.
