"Hans in luck" Hiking fairy tale

Austria's 1st hikiing fairy tale is fun for the whole family!

The tour ist also considered a top tip of the region around the mountain personality "Zirbitzkogel" and symbolizes one of the 19 leading offers on the subject of hiking in the adventure area Murau.

Equipped with a gold nugget and a key, you can hike the story of "Hans in Luck" - at the end, freed, from all burden, the reward awaits! Starting point and end point for this hike are the inns "Gössler" or "Hirschenwirt" in Mühlen, where we also get the Hans-in-luck hiking equipment. This hiking trail is a permanent IVV hiking trail.

Arrival from Germany

From Munich via the A8 in the direction of Salzburg. From Salzburg on the A10 Tauern freeway to St. Michael im Lungau. Take the B96 to Tamsweg, then continue on the B95 to Predlitz. The B97 leads via Stadl an der Mur to Murau. There in the traffic circle direction St. Lambrecht to Murau train station and further direction St. Lambrecht. Via Laßnitz near Murau you reach St. Lambrecht, which is already in the nature park. Continue towards Mariahof, there to Neumarkt, after Neumakrt and St. Marein turn left towards Mühlen. Follow the main road, then turn left to Mühlen to the foam mill.

Arrival from Oberösterreich/Hungary

At the freeway junction in St. Michael bei Leoben take the S36 in the direction of Klagenfurt. Pass Knittelfeld and Judenburg until Scheifling. In Scheifling continue in the direction of Klagenfurt to Neumarkt, via Unzmarkt and Perchau am Sattel you reach Neumarkt. Drive through Neumakrt and St. Marein, then turn left torwards Mühlen. Follow the main road, then turn left to Mühlen to the foam mill.

Arrival from Italy

Via Klagenfurt on the S37 past St. Veit an der Glan, Treibach and Friesach. In Friesach continue towards Vienna, via Dürnstein and Wildbad Einöd torwards Neumarkt. After the Klamm and shortly before St. Marein turn right towards Mühlen. Follow the main road, then turn left to Mühlen.

In the center of Mühlen, at the restaurant Hirschenwirt or the inn Gössler, we get a lump of gold with which "hans" now goes on his journey. The official start of the hiking fairy tale is at the foam mill. Signposts and station huts guide us further to the "Seelenschaukel" to thte riding farm "Khom in Aich". From there we habe to climb the Gamsriegel.

The way back leads us past the Holler locksmith's shop and the Jungbrunnen, the last station of the hiking fairy tale. Carefree home is then back to foam mill.

In cooperation with the Inernational Volkssport Verband (IVV), permanent IVV hiking trails were esteblished in the Zirbitzkogel-Grebenzen Nature Park. The principle of the trails is that you receive the IVV starting documents at the starting points (Info office Neumarkt and St. Lambrecht) and hike the IVV tours on the basis of a route plan and the specially installed trail marking. Each individual tour is rewarded with an IVV stamp.

TIP: The Gamsriegel promises a magnificent view of the Zirbitzkogel!

Travel by bus to Mühlen is possible.
