With three toques and three forks, Wirtshaus Steirereck am Pogusch is something like a pilgrimage site for food lovers. The traditional yet exclusive restaurant is famous for Jürgen Schneider’s exquisite cuisine. In addition to the culinary delights served at the Steirereck, you can also enjoy exquisite outdoor experiences there, for instance at the Bründlweg trail at Pogusch, which was named Styria’s most beautiful hiking trail in 2020. If you want to get close to nature, you can spend a night in the woods or next to the goats and sheep in the stables.

Slow food in the Waldheimat region

Hotel-Restaurant Krainer in Langenwang in the Waldheimat region boasts three toques and three forks. With their degustation menu, Astrid and Andreas Krainer follow the slow food movement. Regional products, organic farming and fair trade are all part of their philosophy. Plus, all dishes are served on plates made in the restaurant’s own pottery.

Cooking classes with a top chef

Landgasthof Hubinger in Thörl at the foot of the Hochschwab mountain range has been awarded two toques and two forks. The menu of head chef Hans Wöls is just as irresistible as the chance to join a cooking class with the chef himself. If you want to spend the night, you can do so in one of the restaurant’s inviting wood-panelled guest rooms.

Austria’s smallest fine dining restaurant

Boutiquenhotel Johanns Living & Restaurant in Bruck an der Mur is run by Emilia and Mike Johanns and boasts three toques and three forks. The small and charming hotel has a seating capacity of 16 people and offers four bedroom suites. 

Gourmet tip: During his cooking classes, Mike shares valuable tips and lets participants in on the secrets of his exquisite cuisine.

Relaxation and culinary delights

With his Gasthof Lurgbauer in St. Sebastian, Max Leodolter has earned himself three toques and three forks. The restaurant is situated in a picturesque location in a quiet side valley of the Mariazellerland region. The romantic rooms will make you feel right at home, underlining the exclusive restaurant’s quality and warmth.

Talking about quality: Award-winning chef Max only uses meat of the highest quality, mainly from the restaurant’s own cattle breed.

Delicacies around the clock

Gasthof Schäffer in Neuberg an der Mürz at the picturesque Mürzer Oberland Nature Park has been awarded two toques and two forks. After enjoying their award-winning culinary delights, you can spend the night in one of the restaurant’s comfortable rooms. The best thing about it: In the morning you can look forward to the legendary “gourmet breakfast with local delicacies“.
