Labonca Rundweg

Open
The Labonca circuit will take you to the heart of the realm of sun pigs and mountain pinto cattle.
Labonca Biohof is the leading farm for species-appropriate, fair and sustainable animal husbandry. Labonca is the home of the "sun pigs" living on extensive pastures and the origin of the "sun pig" products known far beyond the borders of Austria. Labonca is the only farm in Europe that has its own EU-certified pasture slaughterhouse. The animals have no fear and no pain during slaughter.

The Labonca circular route takes you in 60 minutes on foot past the historic Burgau moated castle, the children's playground to the pilgrimage church of Maria Gnadenbrunn. Then continue across the natural pond located in the idyllic forest to the sun pig breeding pasture and the mountain pinto cattle pasture. The tour ends at the pasture slaughterhouse with piglet garden and picnic area. Learn about the responsible and trustworthy treatment of animals and immerse yourself in the philosophy of the Labonca organic farm!

More information

You can arrive by public transport. It is also possible to travel by car via the A2 Südautobahn. Freeway exit: Gleisdorf-West

Detailed information on how to get here can be found here .

We start from the Labonca shop on the main square in Burgau. Signs on a funny carved wooden pig show us the way, the hiking map is available in the Labonca store or next to the new LaboncaBOX in the outdoor area. Now we pass the historic moated castle, the children's playground up to the pilgrimage church Maria Gnadenbrunn, the hiking trail leads through the idyllic Burgau. The beautiful and shady path from the natural pond now leads to the first pasture - the mother pig pasture where many piglets cavort and the mother sows roll around in the mud with pleasure. Here a cozy picnic area invites you to linger! And on we go, along half-shaded field paths past the pastures of the mountain pinto cattle to the piglet garden and the new "Heavens door" at the foot of the pasture slaughterhouse. Here, too, piglets and large pigs frolic merrily. It's fun to watch them! The end of the tour is of course a juicy speciality snack in the Labonca salesroom! The circular route is open daily. Outside the opening hours of the salesroom, the new LaboncaBOX offers shopping around the clock! Also picnic provisions can be purchased here.
Take your time and get an idea of the nature-loving life on the organic farm and taste the products in Labonca's "sauGUT & KOSTbar" on Burgau's main square.
