Wies

The easternmost point of the municipality of Wies is at a sea level of about 330 metres at the foot of the Koralpe. The westernmost point is on the border to Carinthia at a sea level of almost 2,000 metres. Wies is the largest wine-growing community in the Deutschlandsberg district. Especially the Blaue Wildbacherrebe (blue Wildbacher grape), from which the famous West Styrian Schilcher is made, is preferably cultivated here. But also the oil pumpkin plays a major role. Excellent kernel oil businesses are testimony to this.

From the end of May to the end of August, you can make yourself comfortable at the market square in the "living room" of Wies at the AufWIESern of the Wies winegrowers, the innkeepers and the Bauernecke.
