The Eklogitweg-Glasklar: a scenic route of the highest standard.

The starting point is the parking lot in front of the Lenzbauer Inn. Here you’ll also find tools for working with the eclogites that you’ll soon encounter along the trail. On the opposite side of the road, Eclogite Trail No. 16/27 begins; it crosses through the forest and then, as it transitions into the meadow, leads you to the fascinating minerals. The Eklogite Trail crosses the pasture and then leads into the forest along the left edge of the meadow. The trail meets the road again and follows it for just under a kilometer until the Eklogite Trail branches off to the left. We hike down a driveway to the idyllically situated Urberl estate and then continue on to the Schwarze Sulm. Before the bridge, the trail branches off to the right and follows the path upstream. An unassuming quartz boulder lies there by the trail. Inside, it is pure white, making it a coveted material for processing in the region’s glassworks.
The trail leads out into a clearing again and passes by a stately-looking farmhouse on its way up to Glashütten. There are many sights to marvel at here: the church, the imposing houses, the variety of quartz in the geopark, and the welcoming innkeeper. The return route runs along the north side of the Gressenberg and follows the signs for Eklogitweg No. 16 or Trail 28. Now, views of southeastern Styria open up again and again, stretching as far as Riegersburg. With gentle uphill sections, the forest trail runs partly along narrow paths and then back along wide forest roads to the starting point at Lenzbauer.

Coming from Graz via the A2, take the Lieboch exit and continue along the B76 towards Deutschlandsberg. Then take the Weinebenstraße (L610) to Glashütten-Gressenberg.

Ausgangspunkt ist der Parkplatz vor dem Gasthof Lenzbauer. Hier gibt es auch Werkzeug zum Bearbeiten der Eklogite, die bald entlang des Weges liegen. Auf der gegenüberliegenden Straßenseite beginnt der Eklogitweg, der den Wald durchquert und dann am Übergang auf die Wiese auf die faszinierenden Minerale trifft. Der Eklogitweg quert die Weide und führt dann am linken Wiesenrand in den Wald. Der Weg trifft wieder auf die Straße und folgt dieser für einen knappen Kilometer bis der Eklogitweg nach links abzweigt. Über eine Zufahrt wandern wir zum idyllisch gelegenen Anwesen Lenzbauer hinab und dann weiter zur Schwarzen Sulm. Vor der Brücke zweigt der Weg nach rechts ab und folgt dem Pfad flussaufwärts. Ein unscheinbarer Quarzfindling liegt da am Weg. In seinem Inneren ist er reinweiß und war damit das begehrte Material für die Verarbeitung in den Glashütten der Region. Der Weg führt wieder auf eine Lichtung hinaus und verläuft an einem herrschaftlich anmutenden Almanwesen vorbei hinauf nach Glashütten. Hier gibt es viele Orte zum Staunen: die Kirche, die stolzen Häuser, die Vielzahl der Quarze im Geopark, der einladende Wirt. Der Rückweg verläuft auf der Nordseite des Gressenberges und folgt der Beschilderung Eklogitweg, bzw. der Beschilderung Weg 28. Nun öffnen sich immer wieder Ausblicke auf die südöstliche Steiermark, der Blick reicht bis zur Riegersburg. Mit leichten Gegenanstiegen verläuft der Waldweg zum Teil auf schmalen Pfaden, dann wieder auf breiten Forststraßen zurück zum Ausgangspunkt Lenzbauer.
