Experience a hike that engages all your senses. An adventure trail where a variety of stops await you. True to the motto: “Enjoy, relax, and unwind.”
The Path of the Senses begins at Josefiplatz next to the Jauk car dealership in St. Johann im Saggautal and initially follows local roads through the town, eventually winding its way past vineyards and through wooded areas up to the Ratzberg. Numerous stops and a wonderful atmosphere make this route, created by the St. Johann im Saggautal Rural Youth Association, a memorable hiking experience. Time and again, you’ll pass a wide variety of wineries and wine taverns that offer wonderful spots to linger. Surrounded by meadows, forests, and vineyards, the magnificent landscape reveals its most beautiful side. Once you reach the Ratzberg, you’ll return to the starting point via municipal and forest trails with a varied route.

Coming from Graz via the A9, take the Leibnitz exit. Follow the B74 toward Heimschuh until you reach Nestelberg-Großklein-St. Johann im Saggautal.
The Trail of the Senses begins at Josefiplatz next to the Jauk car dealership in St. Johann im Saggautal and leads first on municipal paths through the village area and finally along vineyards and through wooded areas up to the Ratzberg. From there, you return to the starting point on municipal and forest paths with a varied route. Numerous stops and wine taverns make the route, which was set up by the Landjugend Sankt Johann im Saggautal ( www.lj-stjohann.at ), a hiking experience.
Take the time to stop at the rest stops and lookout points to capture your hiking experience in photos against a stunning backdrop.
Many starting points for our hikes in southern Styria can also be reached by public transport.
For a relaxed and sustainable journey, we recommend travelling by bus and train wherever possible. Depending on the region, additional local transport options are available.
