A hike from one vineyard to the next in the South Styria Experience Region, which explores the four seasons of a winegrower’s life. Enjoy stunning views of the beautiful countryside and let our warm and welcoming hosts treat you to culinary delights.
Start your hike at the church square in Eibiswald and walk past the back of the church, along the elementary school. Follow the “Blue Schilcherglas” trail marker to the right, cross the Roman Bridge, and pass the Perisutti retirement home. Continue toward Hörmsdorf until you reach the Kiefer vineyard, where the spring cycle of the vineyard is described. Passing the vineyard on your left, you’ll enjoy a magnificent view of Eibiswald and the Radlkamm as you hike over the Höllberg. Follow meadow and forest paths through the Müller vineyard to reach a beautiful farmhouse with a chapel, where the summer in the vineyard year is described. Follow the road with a view of Wies to the Strohmaier Inn “Zur Schönen Aussicht,” where an old fruit press can be seen. Continue on to the St. Veit Chapel in Altenmarkt, a gem dating from 1324, where the red marble tombstone of Siegmund von Eibiswald (1515) can be seen. Continue following the “Blue Schilcher Glass Marker” along the road and forest path to the Peiserhof vineyard, where autumn in the vineyard year is depicted. Cross the main road to reach the vineyard with the large Klapotetz of the Haring winery, where winter in the vineyard year is described. Stop in and treat yourself to some culinary delights. Hike back to the starting point via the Pfarrerwald settlement and past the outdoor pool.
