This walk invites you on a journey where the wheel of time is turned back with particular care. Open daily to visitors since 2006, the Strutz Mill is a real gem in the White Sulm Valley.

Yet it is not just this journey into the past and Peter Fürbass’s warm hospitality that make this visit so special. The peace and seclusion of the mill, the gentle babbling of the Schwarzbach stream, and the magnificent landscape with countless beautiful hiking and themed trails invite young and old alike to recharge their batteries and linger. It is also the power of the water that constantly surrounds you. The Weiße Sulm winds its way for over 29 kilometres through the expanses of Western Styria. Shortly after the source of the Weiße Sulm, about ten kilometres from the Strutz Mill, a 60-metre-high waterfall thunders down over rocky steps – a natural spectacle well worth seeing! The Strutz Mill Trail starts at the tourist information point in Wernersdorf and leads through woods, meadows and along roads to the Strutz Mill.

Coming from Graz via the A9, take the A2 towards Klagenfurt at the Graz-West motorway junction. Take the Lieboch exit and follow the B76 towards Lannach-Deutschlandsberg-Bad Schwanberg-Wies.
Parking is available in Wernersdorf.

Der Strutz-Mühlen Erlebnisweg startet in Wernersdorf, wo ausreichend Parkmöglichkeiten vorhanden sind. Hier gibt es die Möglichkeit die Emmauskapelle zu besichtigen oder an heißen Tagen eine Abkühlung im Wernersdorfer Freibad zu genießen. Der Weg führt als erstes zur Schilcherei bzw. Brennerei Jöbstl, welche eine unglaubliche Vielfalt an Weinen (vor allem Schilcher) und Edelbränden biete, die bei einer Verkostung dem Besucher eine wahre Gaumenfreude beschert. Weiter geht es über den Guntschenberg, vorbei am gemütlichen und urigen Buschenschank Haubensima mit ausgezeichneten Weinen und allerlei südweststierischen Köstlichkeiten zur "Stendlhiasl"-Kapelle. Anschließend führt der Weg durch ein kühles Waldstück entlang bis man schon linker Hand zur Mühle abbiegt. Von der Kreuzung ist es noch ca. 1 km bis man am Ziel, der idyllischen Mühle am Schwarzbach, angelangt ist. Dort kann man sowohl im Genussladen, als auch bei der Mühle selbst allerlei Spezialitäten und Souvenirs der Region verkosten bzw. mit nach Hause nehmen.

The Strutz Mill – a unique cultural gem in the South Styria region. More specifically, in the Schilcherland. The Strutz Mill was voted Austria’s most beautiful place in 2020.

Many starting points for our hikes in southern Styria can also be reached by public transport.

For a relaxed and sustainable journey, we recommend travelling by bus and train wherever possible. Depending on the region, additional local transport options are available.
