Hiking in the South Styria Nature Park – experience nature at its most beautiful, combined with stunning views and plenty of great places to stop for a bite to eat.

You start right by the sports ground in Gamlitz, then head uphill behind the cemetery, following the orange signs and markings. On this route, you walk past the Peter Skoff vineyard to the Amtmann and on towards the Skoff Heike wine tavern, back to Labitschberg and then return to the starting point. As you walk past vineyards, orchards and woods, you’ll discover different habitats and learn all sorts of interesting facts about wine, the region and its people, as well as the local flora and fauna. The family-run farms along the route have chosen various symbols from nature with which they have a special connection. You’ll find the stories behind them on the farm signs along the way. Magnificent views, lovely spots to linger and recharge your batteries! The nature park hiking trail can be started at any of the 13 farms.

Coming from Graz via the A9, then take the Vogau/Straß exit. Keep right and follow the B69 to Gamlitz.
No time limit and free of charge at the sports ground in Gamlitz.

The nature park hiking trail can be started at any of the 13 farms. Orientate yourself by the organic boards and the markings.

Along vineyards, orchards and forests you will get to know different habitats and learn all kinds of interesting facts about wine, the region and people, as well as flora and fauna. The family farms along the way have thought of various symbols from nature, to which they have a special relationship. You can find the stories about them on the farm signs along the way.

An insider's tip – visit Die Amtmann. Cosy seating areas and secluded spots in the courtyard, filled with roses and lavender, invite you to linger. The cosy courtyard café serves homemade pastries and fine wines. The small delicatessen offers delicacies made from roses, lavender, herbs and wild fruits, which grow in a colourful jumble in the surrounding natural garden and are a delight to behold.

Many starting points for our hikes in southern Styria can also be reached by public transport.

For a relaxed and sustainable journey, we recommend travelling by bus and train wherever possible. Depending on the region, additional local transport options are available.
