You can follow in the footsteps of the pumpkin along this path. Information boards along the way provide details about the origins, health benefits and culinary uses of the various pumpkin varieties.

Starting from the market square in Wies, the route heads towards Unterer Markt. From there, the path continues to the Seltenriegel spring. The path leads back to the village along the edge of the forest, between orchards and vineyards, following the former ‘Kirchengangweg’. Here you have a wonderful view of the pilgrimage church ‘Zum Gegeißelten Heiland auf der Wies’.

Coming from Graz via the A9, take the A2 towards Klagenfurt at the Graz-West motorway junction. Take the Lieboch exit and follow the B76 towards Lannach-Deutschlandsberg-Hollenegg-Steyeregg-Wies.
You’ll find parking spaces in the village itself, as well as by the town hall or behind the Raiffeisenbank.

Ausgehend vom Marktplatz geht es Richtung Unterer Markt. Vondort führt der Weg weiter zur Seltenriegelquelle. Schautafelnentlang des Weges informieren über die Herkunft, diegesundheitliche Bedeutung und die kulinarische Verwendung derKürbissorten.Weiter geht es entlang der Weingärten zum Gasthaus Ziegler,vulgo Wirtprimus. Vom Wirtprimus hat man einen wunderschönenRundblick über das Koralmgebiet. Eventuell mit einem Abstecherzum Anwesen Rothschädl, vulgo Hora in Gaißeregg, auf dem imHerbst die Öl-Kürbiskerne gewaschen, getrocknet und gereinigtwerden.Vom Wirtprimus geht es zur Landesversuchsstation fürSpezialkulturen und dann weiter zu den Metallfahnenstangen(Kunstobjekt Blumenwiese). Es lohnt sich ein Abstecher insRenaissance-Schloss Burgstall mit seinem reizvollen Innenhof zumachen. Vom Schloss geht es zurück zu den Metallfahnenstangen.Ein Weg führt entlang des Waldes zwischen Obsthainen undWeingärten, dem ehemaligen „Kirchengangweg“, in den Ortzurück. Wunderschöner Blick auf die Wallfahrtskirche „ZumGegeißelten Heiland auf der Wies“.

In der Versuchsstation für Spezialkulturen erwarten den Besucherdie duftenden Sinnlichkeiten eines Gartens mit 160 Kleinparzellenzum Schauen und Riechen, zum Kosten und Wohlführen,ein begehbares Kürbis Schaufeld (Juli – Oktober) mit denverschiedensten Arten und Sorten von Speisekürbissen.
