The ascent to the Sporiroaofen offers an experience not only for geology enthusiasts, but for all hikers due to the striking rock formations known as the ovens. The breathtaking views are a particular highlight.
You start at the parking lot in Bad Sauerbrunn and hike along trails 10G, 11G and 12G towards Jagawirt in Sommereben. After experiencing the local animals up close and being spoiled with numerous delicacies from the kitchen, you continue along hiking trails no. 60 and 58 to the Sporiroaofen. An impressive plateau awaits you there, a geological highlight! It pays to have binoculars with you here. Take your time and enjoy the view, it is a unique experience. We return to the starting point along the path marked 10 (Mausegg). Once there, we recommend cooling your tired legs in the Kneipp pool. Bad Sauerbrunn is also known for its sulphur and iron-rich water, so don't hesitate to taste it.

Coming from Graz via the A9, at the Graz-West junction take the A2 towards Klagenfurt. Take the Lieboch exit and follow the B76 towards Lannach-Deutschlandsberg.
You should also not miss the spectacular natural monument known as the Mannagetta Furnace. Named after the geologist Peter Beck-Mannagetta, the rock needle of the Mannagetta Furnace, which is 685 meters high, rises about 10 meters and consists of horizontally layered plate gneiss. Although you have to deviate briefly from the path to reach it, the view is definitely worth it.
