A wonderful and eventful trail with many exciting stops for families and adventure seekers, right in the heart of the hiking village of Soboth in the southern part of the Schilcherland region.
Under the motto “BECOME A BUTTERFLY,” a loop trail featuring many interactive stations was created as early as 2012 for people of all ages. Since then, the trail has been visited by over 5,000 people annually. The positive response prompted the market town to renovate the trail. In 2017, the original concept “From Caterpillar to Butterfly” by Tina Strauss was taken up by artisan Edmund Enzi, reimagined, and implemented across 20 interactive stations in collaboration with the municipal team.

More information

Coming from Graz via the A9, take the A2 toward Klagenfurt at the Graz-West interchange. Take the Lieboch exit and follow the B76 toward Lannach-Deutschlandsberg-Bad Schwanberg-Wies-Eibiswald-Soboth.
The Jakobihaus, located in the heart of the hiking village of Soboth, is home to the Association for the Promotion of Traditional and Contemporary Crafts, Art, and Lifestyle. It features ongoing exhibitions in the upstairs gallery and a permanent sales exhibition of arts and crafts, with a focus on local wood.
It also serves as an information center—the central starting point for hikes in the hiking village of Soboth.

Many starting points for our hikes in southern Styria can also be reached by public transport.

For a relaxed and sustainable journey, we recommend travelling by bus and train wherever possible. Depending on the region, additional local transport options are available.

This allows you to start your tour stress-free while also contributing to climate and nature conservation.
