River and Adventure 732
Characteristics
SkillThe tour in numbers
The tour starts and ends in Kalsdorf near Graz. Haindl Mill and Berghofer Farmery are ideal for picking up a snack, while numerous inns along the route invite cyclists to stop for refreshments.
The route begins on the R2 Mur Cycle Path and soon switches to the Erzherzog Johann Cycle Path (R9). First stops include the Austrian Sculpture Park, Schwarzl Lake or Styria Karting. In Dobl, the historic transmission tower is a striking landmark.
From Muttendorf, the tour follows the Kainachtal Cycle Path (R14) along the Kainach River, passing Pöls Castle and continuing via Pöls an der Wieserbahn, Kühberg and Hengsberg. Panoramic views of the Graz Basin, the West Styrian mountains and the Schöckl accompany the ride, while Roman burial mounds along the path reflect the region’s long history.
In Wildon, the route reconnects with the R2 Mur Cycle Path. A nearby swimming lake offers a refreshing break before the return ride through the Mur floodplains back to Kalsdorf, with traditional wine taverns close to the route.
