The hike offers plenty of variety, fantastic views and places to stop for refreshments along the way, inviting you to recharge your batteries.
The hike begins at the Sulmtalhalle car park. Follow the signs towards Dorfstraße. Keep left at the village chapel. Turn right at the wayside shrine and continue to the chapel in Distelhof. Cross the road and continue past the fish ponds to the water wheel. Turn right and walk uphill through the courtyard of the Schneiderannerl wine tavern. You will walk past vineyards and through a section of forest. (See below for highlights.) Keep right at the road and after 200 metres turn left past the Adam wine tavern. Follow the path past the Hofer winery to the Maurerannerl wine tavern. Then keep to the right and walk downhill past picturesque vineyards and through the uninhabited farmstead. The path finally leads you to the Schwarzlkapelle chapel on the B74 federal road, where you can also see another water wheel. Cross the main road towards Mantrach and continue on the right between fields until you reach the Affahrtmühle mill. From the mill, the path continues to the left towards the main road, then cross the road and keep to the right. After approx. 600 m, turn left into Dorfstraße and you will return to the starting point.
To reach the highlight of the trail – the panoramic footbridge – (extension via variant 19b), continue left after the forest and follow the road and signs for 19b. Take a moment to enjoy the breathtaking view from the panoramic footbridge. The trail continues to the Theresienkapelle chapel, which also offers a unique panorama. From here, continue to the Hofer winery and follow the signs for hiking trail no. 19 again.
The trail can also be shortened via variant 19a.

Coming from Graz via the A9, take the Leibnitz exit. Follow the B74 to Heimschuh - Fresing - Maierhof - Pistorf.
Starting from the car park of Gasthof Schatz, follow the markings in the direction of Dorfstraße. In front of the village chapel turn left towards Leitenweg, at the wayside shrine turn right to the chapel in Distelhof. Cross the road and at the next crossroads follow the sign to the Hiaslbauerteich inn. Then turn right past the water wheel, uphill through the yard of Buschenschank Kolb (Schneiderannerl) past vineyards and a short stretch through the forest. Continue to the right, after 200 m turn left at the Adam wine tavern and continue to the Schimpel Museum of Cultural Heritage. Continue along the road to the GH Hofer (Gödlsima). The path continues in the direction of Buschenschank Sackl (Maurerannerl). Here you have reached the highest point of the hike. Now turn right downhill past vineyards, through the uninhabited farmstead and then immediately left to the Schwarzlkapelle chapel on the B-74 main road, where there is another water wheel. Now cross the B-74 in the direction of Mantrach and after 150 m turn right again in the direction of Affahrtmühle. From the mill, the trail leads in the direction of the main road and continues along the Dorfstraße back to the starting point.
Visit the panoramic footbridge in Sausal, where you can relax on the benches and loungers, unwind, and escape everyday life for a while.
