Often it's just casual to listen to the whole album. Because you have time, and because you have the leisure to listen to one or two numbers that don't rock from the first bar. And then there are days when you don't have the time or the leisure. On those days you need the hits. One after the other. On such days, you go on the Odernik tour.

The Odernik is the small Nandlrunde, you hear again and again from the locals around Eibiswald. And they do it,

when they don't have much longer than two hours,
but still want to work up a sweat - 750 metres in altitude are enough to get your jersey wet - ,
if you want to enjoy the wonderful views of the Remschnigg and St. Pongratzen, into Slovenia and down to Eibiswald and beyond into the South Styrian hills,
if you are looking for a few kilometres of super easy gravel roads and light forest paths in between, in order to at least have the feeling of having ridden "off-road",
and if you are looking for a quick drink at the Gasthaus Silgener in St. Lorenzen at the culmination of the strenuous climb and then an asphalt descent with 5-star flow character over the Hadernigg down to Eibiswald.

Directions from Graz / Vienna to Lieboch:

Take the motorway towards Graz (A2) to the Lieboch exit. Continue on the B76 in the direction of Eibiswald.

Directions from Carinthia:

On the motorway in the direction of Klagenfurt (A2) as far as the Lieboch exit. Continue on the B76 in the direction of Eibiswald.

Directions from Leibnitz:

Drive via Arnfels, Oberhaag to Eibiswald.

Directions from Slovenia/Eibiswald:

Drive over the Radlpass on the B76 towards Eibiswald.

There is ample free parking near the church square.

Of course, this is only one interpretation of the Odernik circuit. You can just as well take it easy, take a picnic backpack with you and enjoy not only a rest and a snack, but also a nap in the shade at one of the wonderful viewpoints along the way.

Or you can take the Odernik, first of all to get a good workout on the climb up to St. Lorenzen and then, as a reward, to take a longer break on the panorama terrace at the Silgener inn.

No matter how you set out on the tour, it always offers one thing: peace and seclusion after just a few metres, fantastic views, excellent side roads, kilometres of enjoyment on gravel and all this with the certainty that you won't be on the road for too long or that you will quickly be back in Eibiswald if the weather changes.

In a nutshell: a lot of value for a short round.

Always drive at a controlled speed and at half visibility, especially on bends, as obstacles can be expected at any time (e.g. road damage, stones, branches, temporarily stored wood, grazing livestock, grazing grids, barriers, tractor-forestry machines, authorised persons' vehicles).
Be considerate of other people, walkers and pedestrians. Only overtake at walking pace!
Be aware of the difficulty of the route, accurately assess your experience and ability as a biker!
Protect your head with a helmet and check your equipment (brakes, bell, lights) before every bike tour!Keep to barriers and please accept that some paths are primarily used for agricultural and forestry purposes!
Be considerate of nature and wildlife, do not leave the marked route, refrain from riding off the open paths and finish your bike tour before dusk.
Please do not leave any litter behind.

*) Mountain biking is a risky sport! The landowners, the Eibiswald cycling club, tourism association and municipalities accept no liability!

Some tours (see description) are "pure nature", the forest paths lead over roots, stones, streams, are partly washed out and are not maintained. Pushing and carrying passages are necessary depending on ability. We recommend private accident insurance or membership of the Alpine Club. Have fun!

Bikes can be anything with a minimum of gravel and off-road capability, i.e. from gravel bikes to trekking bikes to mountain bikes. Special riding technique skills are not required.

Check your bike after every tour for air pressure, spoke tension and brake pads.

A helmet is a must for every bike tour.

Consider in advance what equipment you need to take with you: warm clothing, rain and wind protection, a repair kit and first aid kit belong in your rucksack, as does a charged mobile phone.
