Experience the diversity around Kitzeck – from Kroisgraben, past lavender fields and vineyards with enchanting views of Kitzeck and the surrounding South Styrian wine country.

The hike begins at the Kitzeck Wine Museum, a place that brings the history and culture of winegrowing in the region to life. From here, you set off for Kroisgraben, a picturesque gorge lined with lush vegetation. Follow the babbling brook to the old watermill, where you can take a short break, refresh yourself at the drinking fountain and enjoy the tranquillity of the place. The trail continues past fish ponds and lavender fields, along field and forest paths, while the beautiful landscape and breathtaking panoramas enchant you. Along the way, there are places to stop for refreshments, where you can sample local specialities and wines. Finally, you return to the starting point, the Kitzeck Wine Museum.

With variant 8a – a connecting path to K2 – you can reach the Demmerkogel.

Coming from Graz via the A9, take the Leibnitz exit. Follow the B74 to Heimschuh - Fresing - Kitzeck i. S.

Start off to the right, down the valley over the municipal road and after approx. 400 m turn right again down the marked path into the Kroisgraben. Keep to the right and follow the valley path. (On the left is the Demmerkogel - the highest elevation of the Sausal and on the right the starting point and the church of Kitzeck). Along the stream, past the old water mill with drinking fountain and fish ponds, march straight uphill to the road. Continue to the right here and after about 100 m turn left along the field path. At the end of the dirt road, turn left and continue downhill towards Wellinggraben. Shortly before the road, turn right up the Perlleiten, through the forest to the road. Keep to the right here and follow the road for approx. 800 m until it continues steeply uphill to the left at the edge of the forest. Then follow the road and after about 500 m, before the road climbs again, leave it and follow the meadow path down to the left. In the forest follow the markings, in the stump ditch turn right over the bridge uphill for a short distance and continue left along the forest path. Then turn left again down to the stream. After a longer stretch uphill, you reach the hill and turn right onto the municipal path in the direction of the Kitzeck parish church, past the municipal office back to the starting point of the hiking route.
