Some sections of the route are privately owned and have been approved for cycling by the landowner. Please be considerate of the wildlife. Bear in mind that these trails are primarily used for forestry operations and therefore, for your own safety, observe the basic rules for mountain biking.
The 10 principles for positive mountain biking in Styria: 1. Pedestrians have right of way! We are considerate and friendly towards pedestrians and hikers. When we encounter them, we use a bicycle bell and ride past slowly. We avoid heavily used paths.
2. Respect nature! We do not leave any litter behind and avoid unnecessary noise. Out of consideration for wildlife, we only ride in daylight.
3. Only ride on paths! We never ride off roads and paths.
4. Ride with caution! We ride at a controlled speed and are always ready to brake. We expect oncoming traffic and therefore ride with caution.
5. Never ride without a helmet! As a rule, we always wear a helmet (even when riding uphill).
6. Observe the rules! We also comply with traffic regulations on forest roads. We use marked routes and observe driving bans.
7. Close pasture gates! Unless there are automatically closing pasture gates, we approach grazing livestock at walking pace and close all pasture gates after passing through. This prevents the animals from fleeing or panicking.
8. Only use mountain bikes that are in perfect working order! We check and maintain our mountain bikes regularly.
9. Take an emergency kit with you! We always carry a repair kit and first aid supplies with us.
10. Assess your abilities correctly! We do not overestimate our riding skills or physical condition.
Only use mountain bikes that are in perfect technical condition. Always wear a helmet (even uphill). Always carry a first aid kit (emergency kit) and repair kit. Also take enough food and drink with you. There are almost no places to stop for refreshments along the route.
