A wonderful circular hike along the South Styrian Wine Route awaits you, with plenty of places to stop for refreshments and scenic viewpoints along the way.

The route begins at the Eckbergerhof Ferlinz, heading down the Kapunweg through forests and vineyards toward Steinbach—first upstream along the stream, then along the edge of the forest toward the South Styrian Wine Route. You’ll pass by excellent wine taverns, wineries, and restaurants time and again. Enjoy the magnificent views and take in the beauty of the South Styria adventure region. At the Fischwirt im Urmeer, the trail leads downhill past the Maitz Winery and through forests and meadows back to the starting point.

Coming from Graz via the A9, take the Vogau/Straß exit, then continue toward the South Styrian Wine Route (B69) in the direction of Gamlitz. In the center of Gamlitz, turn right toward the Eckberg Wine Route—after about 3 km, you’ll see the Eckbergerhof on the right.

The trail leads from the parking lot at the Eckbergerhof down the Kapunweg through forests and vineyards towards Steinbach - first upstream then along the edge of the forest towards the South Styrian Wine Route. You walk past excellent Buschenschänken and wineries, at the Fischwirt in the Urmeer the path leads down past the Maitz winery and through forests and meadows back to the starting point.

Many starting points for our hikes in southern Styria can also be reached by public transport.

For a relaxed and sustainable journey, we recommend travelling by bus and train wherever possible. Depending on the region, additional local transport options are available.
