The tour takes you partly along the Austrian-Slovenian border and is part of International Long-Distance Hiking Trail 03, which runs from Bad Radkersburg in the Austria-Slovenia-Hungary border triangle to Silian in Italy.
The hike begins at the Buschenschnak Glirsch, with its Styrian delicacies and magnificent views over the South Styrian hills all the way up to the Koralpe. From there, the trail winds through forests and across meadows to the Styrian-Slovenian border, continuing on to the Klementkogel and the Kapunerkogel. A rest stop here is recommended (the hut is also suitable as an emergency shelter and a refuge in bad weather). The route follows the border to the observation tower of the Sankt Pongratzen church, offering an incredible panorama all the way to the Slovenian Drau Valley. From there, take Trail No. 506 past the Woch farmstead back to the starting point at the Glirsch wine tavern.

More information

Coming from Graz on the A2, take the Lieboch exit; at the fork, keep right toward Deutschlandsberg–Bad Schwanberg until you reach Eibiswald, then continue toward Soboth. At the roundabout, head toward Radlpass for about 1.5 km, then turn left after passing a vacant building and follow the signs to the Glirsch wine tavern.

Der Rundwanderweg geht vom Buschenschank Glirsch über den Kapunerkogel und die Kirche St. Pongratzen mit Aussichtsturm.

The climb up to the observation tower of St. Pongratzen Church is well worth it—a breathtaking view awaits you!

Many starting points for our hikes in southern Styria can also be reached by public transport.

For a relaxed and sustainable journey, we recommend travelling by bus and train wherever possible. Depending on the region, additional local transport options are available.

This allows you to start your tour stress-free while also contributing to climate and nature conservation.
