Interesting facts about hops:
Hops occur wild, but are also cultivated in the region around Leutschach. The right-winding tendrils grow up to 8 meters long. The female, green-yellow flowers give rise to the hop cones. For centuries hops have been cultivated for beer production and already in the Middle Ages their soothing properties were recognized. Paracelsus praised the sleep-inducing properties early on. This is due to active substances such as lupulone, humulone, linalool, essential oils, labolite, resins, tannins, hop bitter acid, and estrogen-like plant hormones. In summary, it can be said that hops make calm and prudent, as well as promote sleep.
