WelschLauf Südsteiermark
The WelschLauf takes place every year on the first Saturday in May in Südsteiermark. In 2027, the marathon starts in Ehrenhausen (South Styrian Wine Road) and ends in Wies (Schilcherland), with the running direction changing annually.
On Saturday, May 1, 2027, Southern Styria will be completely devoted to the 32nd Sparkassen-WelschLauf. This unique marathon stretches through the picturesque wine landscape of Southern Styria - this year from Ehrenhausen to Wies.
The WelschLauf combines sporting challenge with the unique atmosphere of the southern Styrian wine landscape and is considered the “longest” wine festival amidst vines and fields. Whether ambitious marathon runner, half-marathon finisher, recreational runner, or team player in the Gretzl – with the four distances offered from 42.2 km to 5.6 km, everyone will find the right course.
Youngsters are also well catered for: In the Welschi Sparefroh Lauf, Sparefroh and Traubi, the Southern Styria mascot, will lace up running shoes with the children. The focus here is not on times or placements, but on fun, movement, and a shared running adventure in Southern Styria – completely without timekeeping.
