Seggauer Schlossmatineen - Le Dame di Margherita
Francesca Benetti (vocals and theorbo), Tanja Vogrin (harp and vocals), Giovanna Baviera (viola da gamba and vocals)
Three women, three voices, three instruments: this is the practice of singing while accompanying oneself.
The three musicians sing and play while accompanying themselves on their instruments – theorbo, harp, and viola da gamba –.
In doing so, they celebrate the musical atmosphere at the Estense Court of Ferrara at the turn of the 16th to the 17th century and its undisputed center: the Concerto delle dame ferraresi. This ensemble was a true source of inspiration for writing new music and discovering a new vocality.
By reviving the late Renaissance ensemble, also known as Concerto delle Dame, they interpret the repertoire of that time while adhering to historical performance practice.
