Organ concert with Heinrich Wimmer from Burghausen
Biography:
Heinrich Wimmer was born in 1964 in Altötting and has been an organist in his hometown since the age of 14. He studied Catholic Church Music in Regensburg and then organ at the Munich University of Music, which he completed in 1989 with the concert diploma and in 1991 with the master's degree diploma. In 1985, he became the organist at the St. Jacob's parish church in Burghausen, founded an organ concert series, and initiated the organ reconstruction. Since 2014, he has also been active at the Raitenhaslach Abbey Church and the Marienberg Pilgrimage Church. In 2024, he was appointed to the organ commission of the Diocese of Linz. His concert tours have taken him through Europe, Israel, China, South Korea, Russia, and the Baltic States, where he interpreted works by Bach, Mozart, Mendelssohn, and Reger, as well as South German Baroque music and French classical music. He has performed over 150 compositions by contemporary composers at international festivals and has recorded 45 CDs, including organ works by Oskar Sigmund and Walther R. Schuster.
