Michael Stavarič was born in 1972 in Brno (Czechoslovakia). He lives as a freelance writer, translator, and lecturer in Vienna. He studied Czech studies and journalism/communication sciences at the University of Vienna. For over 10 years, he was active at the University of Sports in Vienna – as a lecturer for inline skating.

Numerous scholarships and awards, including: Adelbert-Chamisso Award and Austrian State Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature.
His latest novel, "Das Phantom," was published by Luchterhand.
