Herbstkulturabend - Boulevard der Helden

Sa., 17.10.2026 from 19:30 o'clock

Discourse with Michael Köhlmeier, Klaus Dickbauer, and Martin Gasselberger

There are true life stories that sound as if they were invented: The author Michael Köhlmeier has uncovered them and compiled a colorful panopticon of outstanding people from the most diverse areas of life. His modern hero tales are factually accurate but literarily freely formulated. Of genius and madness, of life's lies and moments of glory: These are stories that will captivate you.

Here are some of these heroes:

  • – Thelonious Monk, who went to prison for his best friend
  • – Bob Dylan & Bobby Fischer and how the chess duel of these giants came about
  • – Django Reinhardt, the brilliant guitarist who created his unique style out of necessity
  • – Abebe Bikila, who ran 42.195km barefoot
  • – John Glenn, the astronaut who had to manually control the landing after entering the Earth's atmosphere
  • – Reinhold Bilgeri, Michael Köhlmeier's best friend with untapped primal forces

Musically, Michael Köhlmeier is accompanied by jazz pianist Martin Gasselsberger and saxophonist Klaus Dickbauer. They excel at responding musically to the emotional states of the texts read, partly spontaneously improvised, partly composed, and always in the unmistakable sound of this internationally highly regarded duo.

Michael Köhlmeier (*1949, Hard am Bodensee)
Michael Köhlmeier studied German studies and political science in Marburg as well as mathematics and philosophy in Gießen and Frankfurt. Michael Köhlmeier writes novels, stories, radio plays, and songs, and he performs very successfully as a storyteller of ancient and local legends and biblical stories.
