GlaMur Festival - Big Jump
This year, the "Big Jump" will again take place at the Mur ferry in Weitersfeld – a European sign for vibrant and clean rivers. Organized by the GlaMur association, the action invites participants to symbolically step into the Mur (not to jump, as it is too dangerous) to raise awareness of the need for river protection.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the visitors can expect festival vibes with street food, music, and a collective jump into the water – however, it will be running instead of jumping, for safety reasons. (Jump into the Mur: 3 p.m!)
The goal of the event is to raise awareness of the biosphere park among the public and to highlight its importance as a model region for sustainable development.
Andreas Schuster, manager of the biosphere park, emphasizes: “The Mur is the central element of the park – it is not only a diverse habitat but also the most important lifeline of the region.”
The overarching goal of the “Big Jump” is a conscious, sustainable approach to nature and tourism.
The event aims to strengthen awareness of the value of living river landscapes, make the biosphere park experienceable for families, and attract people of all ages with a festival atmosphere. At the same time, the “Big Jump” is intended to further promote and make visible cross-border cooperation in the first five-country biosphere park Mur-Drau-Danube.
