Small formations promise intimate conversations, which also hold much potential
for ruthless clarity or even intentional fragility. However, it also allows for a
simpler access to chamber music finesse or extended areas of tension.
The limits of virtuosity and soundscapes are more highlighted than otherwise visible in
difficultly intertwined constructs.
The two protagonists, Anil Bilgen (TUR) and Gerhard
Ornig (AUT), are taking on this endeavor. The two musicians are well-known far beyond the borders of Austria from numerous formations, including Orjazztra
Vienna, Heinrich v Kalnein and Kahiba, “Gerhard Ornig Trio,” se4sons, JBBG, as well as being guests
at the NDR Big Band, Latvian Radio Big Band, and more.
With the aim of incorporating all their preferences and benefits of their instrumental art into a clear,
cohesive picture, the duo draws on their artistic as well as
compositional expressions. Masters such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Bill Evans, and Art
Farmer also have a significant say in this. Much is wrapped up in this intimate duo-
setting, which will surely leave them relaxed and fulfilled after this musical experience.
