Ausstellung: Elfriede Jelinek
Elfriede Jelinek, photographed by Martin Vukovits
On the 80th birthday of Elfriede Jelinek
No other writer has provoked more reactions in this country than Elfriede Jelinek. The public perception of the Nobel laureate is shaped not only by her radical literary works and her often current engagement, but also by the images of "the Jelinek" in newspapers, magazines, and other media. The photographer Martin Vukovits has, like no one else, photographed the writer for nearly two decades, from the mid-1980s until just before she received the Nobel Prize in 2005. Vukovits' portraits are respectful and yet intimate, showing the poet in iconic settings as well as in her private surroundings. The exhibition at the Greith-Haus presents these images for the first time in a retrospective on the occasion of Elfriede Jelinek's 80th birthday on October 20, 2026.
