The history of viticulture at this location dates back a long way: as early as 1910, the first vineyards were planted—originally as a complement to the diverse agriculture of southern Styria. Over time, however, it became much more. A deep connection to nature and wine, along with knowledge passed down through generations, led Josef Zirngast in 1977 to place winemaking at the center of his work—with great success. Since 2011, his son Bernhard has been leading the winery. With the expertise from his training and the wisdom of his ancestors, he continues this path together with his parents, harmonizing tradition and progress.

At an altitude of 450 meters, directly on the Glanzer Kellerstraße and on the border with Slovenia, lies Weingut Zirngast and its vineyards. Here, winemaking is carried out with dedication and in accordance with the principles of natural, integrated production. Father and son make the most of the unique terroir and grape varieties, always striving to produce characterful, fruity, and typically Styrian quality wines—authentic, pure, and full of flavor.
