Pfarrkirche Straß
Straß in Steiermark
The parish church of Straß (Assumption of Mary) was built from 1625 to 1628 as the castle church of the Eggenbergs and is an example of early Baroque sacral architecture. The tower and the nave with arched barrel vaults shape the townscape. Frescoes by Josef Adam von Mölk and altarpieces by Hans Adam Weissenkircher from the 17th and 18th centuries adorn the interior. The church is a protected monument and is the focal point of religious life in Straß.
