The Flascherl train is a true institution of West Styria!
It was inaugurated in 1892 as the iconic local railway. The name of the train also originates from around the turn of the century – at that time, the well-known "miracle healer" "Höllerhansl" practiced in Rachling. Mr. Reinbacher was said to diagnose various diseases from urine samples. Many people took the train to "Höllerhansl" with a bottle of urine in their luggage – hence the name "Flascherlzug".
Even today, many of the 25,000 annual passengers allegedly have one or another bottle in their luggage during the ride......After all, one typically only leaves the Schilcherland in exceptional cases without the rosé wine that gives it its name!
The Stainz Flascherl train operates on an 11.9 km route from Stainz to Preding. There is a stop in Kraubath, and the turning point is located in Preding-Wieselsdorf.
After about two hours, you return to the train station in Stainz.
