Jakobihaus Soboth

The basic concept of the association "Sobothage" is that not only "vague utopias" of a healed world are designed but also implemented in everyday life. Connected in a cooperative are carpenters, sawmill operators, freelance artists, architects and planners, graphic designers and conceptualizers, as well as farmers who work in the spirit of the association's philosophy. The core themes are education and consulting, health and housing with its far-reaching aspects, as well as the "refinement" of human life and togetherness in the context of nature and the environment. Mass-produced items have no place in the assortment, which is presented in a creatively stimulating ambiance at Jakobihaus. The association sees itself as a civilization-critical platform that opposes the harmful effects of industrialization and the mass and consumer society.

Regular exhibitions in the gallery on the upper floor, permanent sales exhibition of handcrafted goods with a focus on local wood, information point, central starting point for hikes in the hiking village of Soboth.

On the upper floor, you can currently visit the exhibition "350 Years of Koralpen Glass."

In the past centuries, bustling activity filled the forests at the foot of the Koralpe. From the raw materials of their immediate surroundings, glass artworks were created that still fascinate us today. The exhibition provides an interesting cross-section of the products from long-gone times from the glassworks around St. Vincent, Ferdinandsthal, Aibl, Vordersdorf, Wies, and the Bachern region.
