Legend:
To accompany, U. L. Frau is said to have washed the diapers at the source and that is why the water should smell so pleasant. Maria came to the source just as it was ringing for prayer. That is why the position should also be called accompanying.

Background information from a folklore perspective:
The pilgrims to Osterwitz take off their shoes, go into the water and all the pain in their sore feet is said to be gone. They rub their sackcloths on the stone next to the spring and now they smell like saffron. It is probably the so-called violet stone, which with the alga Trentepohlia Jolithus (L.) Wittr. is covered.
