Erinnerungshof Hermann
St. Nikolai im Sausal
At the Hermann Memorial Farm those everyday things are preserved which farmers and craftsmen had in use for centuries. Entering the museum, one embarks on a highly interesting and entertaining journey through time, vividly depicted by the lifelike arrangement and vividly conveyed by the stories of Robert Hermann.
About half a century ago, around the year 1962, Robert Hermann's father began collecting old household items and old tools. He worked as a carpenter in many old attics and brought home quite a bit of "old stuff" from there. This laid the foundation for the Memory Courtyard. Robert Hermann was equally excited by his father's passion for collecting and the "old things." He also completed a carpenter apprenticeship and inherited his father's deep interest in the past. In 1975, Elfi and Robert Hermann got married, and from then on, the collector trio was complete. Elfi also took great pleasure in old things from the very beginning. Back then, "Grandpa Hermann" set up a small museum in the garage. And as it goes with collecting, year by year it grew bigger, more rooms were added, and thus the Memory Courtyard Hermann was created.
