The most beautiful way to experience West Styrian landscapes and culinary delights together.
The Flascherlzug is a true West Styrian institution. The cult local railway was opened in 1892. The name of the train also originates from the turn of the century – as the well-known "miracle healer" "Höllerhansl" used to operate in Rachling at that time. Mr. Reinbacher was said to be able to diagnose various diseases from urine. Many people therefore made their way to "Höllerhansl" by train with a bottle of urine in their luggage – hence the name "Flascherlzug". And even today, many of the 25,000 annual passengers are allegedly said to have one or another bottle in their luggage during the ride. After all, you usually don't leave the Schilcherland without the rosé wine that gives it its name!
The Stainzer Flascherlzug travels on the 11.9 km long route from Stainz to Preding and back. There is a stop in Kraubath, and the turnaround station is located in Preding-Wieselsdorf. The culinary well-being is ensured by an additional serving wagon on board.
After about two hours, you return to the station in Stainz.
