If that is not a reason to celebrate - a New Year is dawning!
No matter how the previous year ended, the NEW YEAR should be good and fulfil many hopes and wishes! A toast to that: HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The old year is drawing to a close and the new one is already waiting to be welcomed accordingly. Traditionally, the turn of the year is celebrated in Graz. New Year's Eve parties and balls are held in many hotels and restaurants. The last hours of the year can be enjoyed with festive gala menus - after all, Graz is Austria's gourmet capital.
But the end of the year also includes the New Year's Eve Run, the New Year's Eve Bim, Cirque Noel, the guided New Year's Eve walk through the Old Town, the culinary New Year's Eve walks and, of course, the big New Year's Eve spectacle on the main square.
The end of an unforgettable New Year's Eve includes a unique fireworks display! It wouldn't be Graz if it didn't have a very special "fireworks display". In the middle of the old town, in front of the dreamlike backdrop of the town hall, a unique spectacle is offered. Water, fire, lasers and light are combined to create an impressive show. Fascinating video projections on a water screen inspire and make the turn of the year a highlight.
Already one day before the actual end of the year, i.e. on 30 December, Farmers' New Year is celebrated everywhere in the Adventure Region. At the Lipizzaner stud farm in Piber, people are already waiting for the first foals - on a tour of the stud farm you can be there live! The more sporty among us say goodbye to the year with a winter or New Year's Eve hike, skiing, tobogganing or a ski tour.
And for those who love contemplation and romance, the torchlight procession in Hirschegg is a must.
