Feldkögerl

Closed
The exposed location of this "Aussichtskögerl" promises a charming snowshoe hike with a view of the surrounding valleys and the high peaks of the main Alpine ridge.
Right from the start of the tour, the view of the wide Katschtal with the town of St. Peter am Kammerberg is impressive. As you climb, you look towards the Sölkpass, over which an important connection between the Mur and Ennstals leads. In the broad summit area of the Feldkögerl you can finally see the view to the west into the Günstnertal.

More information

Coming from Judenburg via Unzmarkt to Scheifling. Turn right here and drive to Murau. In Katsch an der Mur, keep right again and drive to Schöder.

Coming from Tamsweg via Ranten (or Stadl an der Mur), keep left and drive to Schöder.

You start at the Gasthaus Gangl on Schöderberg. Between the inn and guest house, follow a forest path uphill on the right. Follow the signs towards Feldkögerl until you come to a forest road. Stay on the road and keep left uphill until you reach the Gangleck shortly before the first cross. In the clearing above the cross you can orient yourself by the open spot in the barbed wire fence. After a short while you come to the Gangleck crossroads in the forest. We now go downhill for a short distance to a larch tree with a small cross. Follow the path to an open area and then continue on the forest road to the right. You always follow the markings. The path to the summit leads north-west above the tree line in the middle of the ridge.

When descending, follow the ascent route to the Gangleck. The route then runs along the marked Hoisenbauernhütte hiking trail and takes a shortcut along the well-known forest road to the starting point.

With the BusBahnBim app from the interconnected line, timetable information is easier than ever before: all bus, train and tram connections in Austria can be queried by entering locations and/or addresses, stops or important points. The app is available as a free app for smartphones (Android, iOS) - on Google Play and in the App Store.
