The Austrian Brass Music Museum in Oberwölz was opened in 1997 and presents objects from the history of Austrian brass music, which has been one of the largest movements in amateur music since the 19th century, in addition to the military music tradition, in new showrooms and two to three special exhibition rooms on approx. 600m² has developed.
Over 2100 brass bands form a flourishing present of over 150 years of development.

The museum's permanent exhibition presents wooden, brass and percussion instruments, musicians' clothing and numerous other objects from the 19th century on the history of brass music in Austria. These include various drum wagons, conductors' baton, development of sheet music printing, original scores and sheet music.
