The oldest hut in the Gesäuse is the one with the apt and resonant first name "Ennstaler". The year 1885 is written in old-fashioned letters on its wooden forehead. In it live and work two genuine hut people who will spoil you with culinary delights and give you a warm welcome. Whether it should go after the station on the Ennstalerhütte still further on the Tamischbachturm, the gut feeling decides. Or the too filled belly. Depending on the case.
Once you have tied your hiking boots, you are ready to go. The National Park Pavilion is the starting point for the hike to the Ennstalerhütte, which is botanically and zoologically very pleasing. Then it goes through green forests, over yellow spotted clearings, up and up. You almost have the feeling of moving through primeval forests, so rich is the vegetation that greets you there from all sides. The shortest way to the hut is through the Tamischbachgraben, but you can also get up easily via the Mühlbach. As you like!
The Ennstalerhütte is old. Its inhabitants are young. And accordingly pleasant is the atmosphere you meet here. In addition to the mattress dormitory, there are also a few "private rooms", which you should reserve in advance in any case. Everything is decorated in a lovely way. So that you immediately feel comfortable and would like to stay several nights. The same feeling arises at dinner or breakfast, which is also gladly served through the window directly from the kitchen to the outside.
From Gstatterboden or from the Erbsattel it goes through lots of forest, meadows, pastures past butterflies, cows and smaller seas of flowers up to the Ennstalerhütte. There a refreshment with a view awaits before the Tamischbach tower is made unsafe. With attention to detail and comfortable deck chairs, you breathe the air of adventure here. And suddenly you're just living in the moment. Wonderful!
The true soul of the Gesaeuse can only unfold if you walk it step by step. Desirable and mighty they open up, the mountains. Let's go.
