Lake Piberstein
Köflach
Lake Piberstein in Köflach is an impressive bathing lake in the Lipizzanerheimat region, characterised by its size and natural beauty.
The temperatures continue to rise and summer is in full swing. These are the days when it's best to find a quiet spot by the water. But the search has come to an end, as Pibersteiner Lake is the perfect place for that.
Pibersteiner Lake has been publicly accessible again since June 2024 and is once more one of the popular swimming spots in West Styria. Swimming is possible at the freely accessible east beach at one's own risk. A fee is charged for parking vehicles in the parking lot.
The dreamlike swimming lake in the west of the Graz adventure region spans an area of sixteen ha and is surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery and the green meadows of the Lipizzaners. Ideal for swimmers, sunbathers, and nature lovers, it offers expansive lounging areas and clear water. Whether for relaxation or water sports activities, this lake is a perfect excursion destination for the whole family. With a water area of around 16 ha, it is also one of the largest natural baths in Styria. The area for sports and recreation is a relic from mining; where the swimming lake is now located, coal was once extracted in an open pit.
