Follow in Arnold Schwarzenegger's footsteps to the best culinary stops in Graz Region West! Cycle past Arnie’s birthplace in Thal and enjoy the beautiful landscape.

Did the Terminator ever ride a bike? We don’t know, but at the Arnold Schwarzenegger Museum in Thal, you’ll learn all about his life, including his baptism in Jakobuskirche, which was transformed into a shimmering masterpiece by Ernst Fuchs in the 90s.

The tour takes you from Thal through Eben and Steinberg Observatory to Rohrbach, where Vinzenz Stern produces award-winning cheeses such as Aichstern and Liebochthaler. The R56 Liebochtal Cycle Path winds through orchards and vineyards, passing many wine taverns along the way. At Birnstingl in Reiteregg, high-quality pumpkin seed oil is pressed. The tour continues to St. Bartholomä, where the neo-Gothic church invites a moment of reflection. The stretch to Stiwoll offers breathtaking views of the Gleinalm and Koralpen region.

After a refreshing break at Bad Weihermühle, you’ll visit the Maria Straßengel Pilgrimage Church and return to Thalersee.

Thal – Eben – Steinberg – Rohrbach – (R56 Liebochtal Cycle Path) – Reiteregg – St. Bartholomä – Stiwoll – Upper Schirning – Lower Schirning – Gratwein – Straßengel – (R2 Mur Cycle Path) – Raach – Graz Gösting – (R39 Thaler Cycle Path) – Thal

Connection to Graz:
Via the R2 Mur Cycle Path (5.6 km / 37 m elevation gain from Graz city centre)

St. Bartholomä, Gratwein main square, Straßengel main square

Basic equipment:
