Moon tour: "Through the eclipse"
Moon tour for children at the Stübing Open Air Museum: When it gets dark, old farms tell stories from the past. With tales, little lights, and nighttime sounds in nature.
The “Moon Tour for Children through the Darkness” at the Austrian Open Air Museum Stübing invites young explorers to a special evening in Styria. As it slowly gets dark and the shadows spread between the old farmhouses, the museum reveals itself from a completely different side. What seems familiar during the day appears mysterious and quiet in the moonlight.
Together with experienced guides, the journey takes them through courtyards, parlors, and paths of the spacious grounds. Small lights mark the way. Stories about life without electric light highlight how much everyday life has changed. How did people orient themselves in the night in the past? What sounds were naturally part of it? And why did the moon play an important role in the agricultural yearly cycle?
The tour is specially designed for children. Playful elements, short narratives, and intentional pauses create space for personal impressions. The darkness is not experienced as something eerie, but as part of nature. The rustling of the trees, the chirping of the crickets, and the view of the night sky accompany the tour.
Admission: € 38.00 (1 adult and 1 child aged 7 and up including children's snack) | Meeting point at the entrance/cash desk | Registration required +43 3124 53700 or freilichtmuseum@museum-joanneum.at
The Austrian Open Air Museum Stübing shows with this evening event how history remains alive in the Graz Region. Between historic buildings and expansive landscapes, a atmospheric access to the past is created – calm, exciting, and very close to the nature of Styria.
