Long Night of Museums

When glass glows, takes shape, and transforms from a centuries-old craft technique into a unique piece of art, a closer look is worthwhile. During the ORF Long Night of Museums, the Glass Museum Bärnbach will open its doors on October 3rd 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. and showcase glass in all its facets.

Since 1805, glass has been produced in Bärnbach using traditional mouth-blowing techniques. The museum in the Stoelzle Glass Center tells the story of the material from its beginnings to the present day and provides insights into the working and living world of glassmakers as well as into craft and industrial forms of production. The annual exhibition "Glass – brilliant, beautiful, and timelessly elegant" can also be seen.

It becomes particularly vivid during the tours of the mouth-blowing studio: Here, visitors can directly observe how glass artists create individually designed objects from liquid glass with heat, skill, and experience. Tours of the Glass Museum are offered from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and the mouth-blowing studio can be visited as part of the tours until midnight. An interactive VR experience also provides insights into modern glass production – from melting to the packaging robots.

Thus, the Long Night in Bärnbach connects glass history, traditional craftsmanship, and modern technology into an evening where the material glass can be explored up close.
